the highly anticipated squeaky lobster ep has been worth every second of the wait. in terms of sample / synth selection, song structure and sound quality, no expense has been spared. hi-fi synthetic drums intertwine with lo-fi sampled kicks & snares whilst heavy stretched out synth bass lines are topped with bollywood-esque string samples, 80s guitar bridges & plenty of other orchestral mayhem. the lush, thick melodic layers mount up into a frequently spine-tingling whole whilst the rhythm section, although outside the box, does by no means neglect the headnod factor. the incredible feat here is that although no 8 bars are quite the same as the next, a sense of unity is preserved within each genre-defying track, making it the stuff of epic journeys. you may start your listening experience in front of your turntable, staring at the record spinning, but you will end up somewhere quite different, squeaky lobster has made sure of that. as man from phone number 770021 would say: >this is $50.000. good luck.<

rotterdam based 25 places are back on dirt crew with a bang! since their love more release in 2015 the boys have been hard at work and have just released an ep for chez damier on his prescription records sub label balance. the bounce begins with party in the hills hosting a huge kick, loopy rhodes, squelching bass, ragga flavoured vocal and squeaky lead, its straight up good times right from the get go. an infectious groove on this one! closing title song heads into deep soaring territory, its forward house beat and pulsing synth lead intertwine with loose tropical percussion and a rhapsodic horn hook. on the flip we have laurence guy who does not really need an introduction anymore, the man has been all over the place since this years releases on cin cin, outplay and the imminent church where he dropped two big eps bamboo and kojak. here he takes on the soulful deep chicago house of 25 places and turns it into a 90s breakbeat acid galore of ecstasy tingled uk house. 25 places wrap up the rave session with backyard stories, a raw and bouncing, bass face inducing jam. uplifting and dirty in one stroke, its thumping kick and feverous melodies make it impossible not to move.

just this s first various artists aims to the research of a mix of sounds by producers from different countries, to a journey into a variegated world. melancholic vibes, deep ambient atmospheres. the second part of the various artists, gets straight to the point, reaching the dancefloor in a more hard and deep insistent way. the first track inside world is composed by hunter/game, as a playful banger with a solid kick, brushed percussions and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads that make the track dreamy while fierce. the second one by pisetzky comes with a strong, continuous 4/4 bassline and organic percussion from start to end, further on dominated by a hypnotic melody followed by a more romantic and dreamy motif full of longing melancholy and eternity. the third one comes from just this new artist altman, with a breaking mellow downbeat theme, it lets all squeaky sounds mesh nicely like a dream landscape opening up into a widescreen chord progression, with an epic build up.

when the house music phenomenon was beginning, chicago djs like ron hardy and new yorkers such as frankie knuckles and larry levan would edit records for their own purposes, removing the parts they felt to be superfluous, concentrating instead on extending grooves and hooks, often adding their own basic synth lines and toughening up the percussion with what have now become classic synthesizers and drum machines. warehouse classics vol.1 holds 4 killer tracks going from obscure disco to new wave, first popularised at the music box and rarely heard anywhere else. sir leon greg (another incarnation of perseus traxx) jams out then reinforces some edits of forgotten classics with a raw & personal analogue treatment for a devastating full effect on the dance floor, that is a far cry from the proliferation of over-produced squeaky-clean software edits. these are basic, raw ideas thrown down quickly and capturing the energy on 1/4 inch tape before moving on to the next set of sounds. musically, its as delightfully funky and uncomplicated as youd expect, a mesh of disco tracks and heavy, effect laden, machine-funk. essential item!!

b phreak, currently one of germanys best and busiest producers, provides the techy original track firecrack, which includes not only stompin beats, but also lots of squeaky bleeps and synthie madness. plaza de funk, one of the hottest breakbeat producers around, delivers a funky, energetic and irresistible monster of a remix.

the third release from splitloops second album pleasure machine is another pounding, electro breaks monster. electricity mixes squeaky synths with retro and glitchy vocals. on the flip, release remove, a cheeky little stomper. computerized vocals, and fast paced synth stutters. once again the boys have unleashed a classic!

this is the second release on ek records from the two berlin musicians schatz & wickinger. the first release >aufziehvogel< on ek records getting fast to a small clubhit. on >the swarm< they use dry minimal beats with strings which is strengthen by a squeaky synth. the synthy hook after the break makes the song to a raveanthem and we are sure that the song advanced to a small hit tune again

a double a-sided 12inch. byte the frog is a reduced acid slammer while sweet n squeaky has more of a new school minimal touch. nice to hear that both mathias tanzmann and steve bug's funky and straighforward flavours
